Tassimo is a brewing system unlike any other. Remarkable in its ability to offer an exceptional combination of quality, convenience, consistency and versatility. Only Tassimo offers a choice of coffee, cappuccinos and lattes made with real milk, cream, tea and hot chocolate. Each perfectly brewed, fresh by the cup, at the touch of a button. The secret to brewing each cup perfectly is the patented Tassimo Disc (T DISC) technology. A unique barcode on each T DISC tells the Tassimo machine how to prepare your chosen beverage using the optimal brew time, temperature, and amount of water. Because the brewing takes place inside the T DISC, you can prepare different drinks, one after the other, with no flavor transfer from cup to cup. Compact, modern design with satin-silver panels with chrome accents. The integrated LED-user interface guides you through every step of the brewing cycle and convenient on/off switch in the front of the brewer makes operation easy and intuitive. The brewer automatically reverts to stand-by mode after every brew cycle thereby saving energy when not in use. He received a Compasso d'Oro industrial design award in 1959. Sapper partnered with Italian designer Marco Zanuso and were hired in 1959 as consultants to Brionvega, an Italian company trying to produce stylish electronics that would compete with products manufactured in Japan and Germany. They designed a series of radios and televisions that became enduring icons of an aesthetic known as techno-functionalism. One of their more notable designs was the rounded, compact and portable Doney 14 (1962), the first television to feature completely transistorized construction. Using the aesthetic of sculptural minimalism, the pair designed the compact folding Grillo telephone for Siemens and Italtel in 1965. The Grillo was one of the first telephones to put the dial and the earpiece on the same unit, and today is a featured display at New York's Museum of Modern Art. The 9090 was not only the first espresso coffee machine in our history, but it was also the first Alessi object designed for the kitchen after the 30s. It also gained us our first Compasso d'Oro Award (in 1979) and it is on display in the Permanent Design Collection at the MOMA in New York. The Espresso Coffee Maker was the first of our amphibious objects, those that can be used in the kitchen but are attractive enough to be used directly at the table. It proved that there was ample space on the market for good-looking coffee machines, and it spurred on almost all household goods manufacturers to try to imitate our lead. Along with Rossi's 9095, even after twenty years it remains one of Alessi's most popular coffee machines.
